Hey everyone!  So I've been asked to do a commission where I am going to have to draw fire, and to be completely honest I don't draw fire much and my last attempt was fairly disappointing.

I am looking for some advice (or tutorials) on how I can create some fire effects without straying too far from my style.

I've provided some examples of my work below, and hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction. :0

Let me start off by saying I am absolutely amazed by how you pulled off this monochromatic image. Pink is NOT an easy color to work with and make look good by itself, but you did an extremely excellent job with doing so. The concept of the character is absolutely darling, and she looks exactly how I would imagine her as. You did so well with the dress and making sure that the skintone in her arms, chest, and face could be distinguished apart for her background and clothing, but also made sure that they were integrated so well. The gradient in the hair is excellent. The background works fantastically. My only observation is that on the right arm (downwards arm) there seems to be some jagged edges where the skin meets the white illuminated part of the backdrop. This, however, could just be my screen. Well done.

Firstly, let me start off by saying that the character design is absolutely adorable. The soft edges, large eyes, eyebrows, and thin limbs really come together to make a sweet, lovable character. The idea for the environment is really neat. I think you did a good job with the clouds and making it seem like he is nuzzled up there, looking down. The sky is a pretty blue, however I think the piece would benefit if the blue was darker. Since the robot is gold, but still darker, it would make him really pop out more if the backdrop was darker. This would also help bring out the spots that you've illuminated due to the moonlight and also the stars. I also think that putting a shadow where he is sitting would help because as of now, his butt sort of looks elevated (unless its supposed to be that way.) You did a great job, overall and I would love to see more of this little guy :)
I really like the subject matter. Overall, the piece is very visually pleasing. Without the title, it reminds me of particles that you would see underneath a microscope, which really gives a sense of mystery and curiosity. It also connects me with the piece in a natural sense. The use of color against the charcoal background is nice. The colors are warm and Earthy, which adds to its impact. However, the use of the white lines somewhat takes away from this, in my opinion. I think it works to a point, but in some of your other artworks I noticed that instead of using white outlines and contours you used a variety of color within one shape. This may have been a better route to go with this piece, but I think overall its really very nice how it is!

Thanks!  Your video game/pop culture art is super cool.  Thinking about buying either a Princess Peach Game Over or Zelda shirt if you have them available.
